Littelfuse Unveils High-Precision TMR Angle Magnetic Sensors

Littelfuse introduces new TMR-based magnetic angle sensors for enhanced precision and thermal stability.

Littelfuse, Inc., a leading industrial technology manufacturing company committed to a sustainable, connected, and safer world, proudly announces the launch of two innovative TMR-based magnetic angle sensors: the LF53466 and LF53464. (View the video in EnglishChineseJapanese.)

These sensors are engineered to provide high-precision 0–360° angular measurement in challenging environments, ensuring minimal thermal drift.

Utilizing advanced Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology in a dual push-pull Wheatstone bridge configuration, both sensors feature four high-sensitivity sensing elements for accurate angle detection along the X and Y axes.

They offer a superior alternative to Hall-effect devices, boasting enhanced thermal stability, wide supply voltage compatibility, and improved measurement precision.

The LF53466, packaged in a standard TSSOP8, delivers precision angle sensing with an error of less than 0.8° within the 200–800 Gs magnetic field range. It is ideal for industrial and automotive applications, such as steering wheel angle sensors, pedal position sensors, and contactless potentiometers, where stronger mechanical solder joints and ease of inspection are crucial.

The LF53464, available in a compact LGA8L package, achieves even greater accuracy with an angle error below 0.6°, while supporting wider airgap capability and compatibility with smaller, cost-effective magnets. It is perfect for space-constrained applications like rotary encoders, knob and valve position sensing, and consumer devices including power tools and appliances.

Key Features and Benefits:

“These new TMR omnipolar sensors significantly expand the Littelfuse magnetic sensing portfolio by opening access to broader industrial, mobility, and consumer markets,” stated Julius Venckus, Global Product Manager, Sensors. “The LF53466 and LF53464 enhance applications requiring speed control and precise angle detection by combining high accuracy, thermal resilience, and packaging flexibility.”
