Capacitor Reliability Virtual Seminar | TJ Green Associates, LLC
December 1st & 2nd, 2020 | 12 – 2 PM EDT
The course is intended for component engineers, designers, process engineers, QEs, and managers responsible for designing and building hardware and procuring capacitors for use in microelectronic assemblies. Ron Demcko, AVX Fellow, will cover a wide range of technologies ranging from ceramic to film, stacked modules and SuperCapacitors.
Students will gain an understanding of each capacitor technology ranging from construction, electrical performance and reliability. Performance characteristics are discussed relative to time, temperature, voltage and frequency. Distinctions are made between thin film capacitors and power film capacitors. Stacked capacitor modules – traditionally MLCC based are presented. SuperCapacitor technology is reviewed and superCapacitor modules are introduced. A high-level Page 2 of 2 selection guide and de-rating methods is given for all capacitors presented. Links to common simulation sites are provided.
Topics to be covered include:
- Failure Modes and Construction of Tantalum & Electrolytic Capacitors
- Performance, Reliability and Process Guidelines
- Ceramic, Film, Stacked Modules and SuperCapacitors
- Construction Performance Characteristics and De-Rating Methods
