Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. expands its lineup of SMD-type NTC thermistors, specifically the “NCP Series,” which offers high-precision temperature measurement across the entire operating temperature range.

The new additions include the 0402M and 0603M sizes, specifically designed for mobile, consumer, and medical devices. Mass production has already begun for these products, and samples can also be provided.

As electronic devices such as smartphones and wearable devices acquire advanced performance with higher component densities, the load on electronic components is increasing, generating more heat.

In recent years, however, as the performance of equipped ICs has improved and the number of mounted electronic components has increased, the importance of thermal designs is becoming more critical by the day. Under such circumstances, the demand for high-precision temperature sensing has significantly increased to ensure efficient application performance.

Taking advantage of Murata’s years of processing technology development, these compact products are capable of achieving high precision temperature sensing. Murata will continue to expand its product lineup to meet market demand.

Features

  • Capable of high precision temperature sensing in all temperature ranges, achieving ±0.1°C at 25°C
  • Because these products have the same characteristics as our existing products (1005M size), there is no need to change the design, contributing to increasing their component density as well as saving space on the circuit board
  • Since it has a smaller volume compared to the existing model (1005M size), this new model is capable of fast response (the 0603M size has approximately 80% smaller volume and 70% less mounting area. The 0402M size has approximately 90% smaller volume and approximately 80% less mounting area.)
