The increasing complexity of electronic devices – reduced design footprints, higher operating frequencies, and the proximity of one to another increases risks of undesirable electromagnetic interference (EMI). EMI noise suppression is a formidable challenge. In this complex environment one must navigate the intricacies of both near-field and far-field EMI suppression, which require selecting not only right EMI control practices and designs but materials as well.
With decades of expertise, 3M offers multiple EMI control products including electrically conductive tapes and near-field EMI absorbers. In this talk Dr. Sergei Manuilov, a 3M EMI Absorber Product Developer, will cover some critical considerations for suppressing near-field EMI noise. He will cover basics of near field EMI, some application related testing of absorber materials as well as an overview of absorber intrinsic electromagnetic properties. Additionally, attendees will gain insights into key material properties and test methods essential for identifying the right EMI solution.
