Euroquartz Releases SMD VCXO Low Jitter HF Oscillator

Frequency control specialist, Euroquartz has launched a range of surface mount, voltage-controlled crystal oscillators (VCXO). The EG_JF series is manufactured in the UK and offers high frequency (HF) outputs with low phase jitter performance.

The VCXOs offer frequencies from 15 to 2,100MHz for CMOS, LVPECL, LVDS and CML differential outputs and 15 to 700MHz for HCSL differential outputs. The VCXOs are free of ITAR (international traffic in arms regulations) restrictions. Typical RMS phase jitter performance ranges from 151fs at 644.530MHz up to 163fs at 2000MHz.

The EG_JF oscillators are housed in a standard format eight-pad 7.0 x 5.0mm surface mount ceramic package with hermetically sealed metal lid. Power supply voltage options are 1.8V ± five per cent (except LVPECL types), 2.5V ±10 per cent and 3.5V ±10 per cent (all types) with current consumption ranging from 70 to 120mA maximum depending on frequency and logic type. 

Standard temperature stability specification options available are ±25, ±50 and ±100ppm over commercial temperature ranges (i.e. -10 to +70 degrees C) and industrial ranges (i.e. -40 to +85 degrees C). Tighter options are available on request. 

Additional specifications include rise/fall time of five nanoseconds maximum for CMOS types, 0.4 nanoseconds maximum for all others (20 to 80 per cent waveform), duty cycle of 50 per cent ± five per cent for all types (except 1.8V CMOS at ±10 per cent) and output enable/disable function as standard. Ageing is ± three parts per million (ppm) maximum for the first year, ± two ppm maximum thereafter. Solder profile is +260 degrees C maximum for 10 seconds, twice.

Target applications for the EG_JF series VCXOs are flat panel displays for consumer TVs, video streaming systems via external cables (e.g. LDI), high speed serial communications links such as Serial ATA and FireWire, SONET, xDSL, SDH, set-top box and Ethernet cards.
