Understanding counterfeiting within the electronics industry

The counterfeiting of consumer electronics has been rife for many years, and the growth of the internet has only caused it to boom. This market research looks into counterfeit electronics, consumers’ shopping habits, and perceptions of brands within the industry.

This research intends to cover the entire buyer journey and understand what leads consumers to buy fake electronics.

Key Findings:

  • The majority of consumers who bought fakes were originally looking to buy an authentic item.
  • Most consumers would tell friends not to buy from a brand if they themselves had mistakenly bought a fake.
  • Nearly one-fifth of consumers have bought counterfeit electronics online in the past.
  • Two-thirds of consumers who bought a fake were satisfied with the item.
