Murata’s Christophe Pottier Appointed President of EPCIA, Strengthening Europe’s Passive Component Ecosystem.

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. announces that Christophe Pottier, Vice President of Sales for Murata Europe, has been appointed as President of the European Passive Components Industry Association (EPCIA), effective immediately.

Mr. Pottier brings over three decades of deep experience within the electronics industry to his new role, with a strong focus on strategic sales and automotive sector initiatives.

Speaking on his appointment, Christophe Pottier stated:

“I am honoured to take on the role of President of the European Passive Components Industry Association (EPCIA), representing a sector that is both foundational and forward-looking within Europe’s electronics landscape.”

Mr. Pottier emphasised that passive components – resistors, capacitors, inductors, and filters – are essential to every electronic device. His experience at Murata, where he has contributed across multiple domains, including strategic sales in telecom and collaborative initiatives in the automotive industry, has shaped his understanding of how these components quietly power advanced technologies.

Key Focus Areas as EPCIA President

As EPCIA President, Mr. Pottier’s mission is to promote a stronger, more connected passive components ecosystem across Europe by focusing on three key areas:

  • ● Elevating the role of passive components: These elements regulate, protect, and optimise electronic signals, making them indispensable to chip performance and system reliability.
  • ● Fostering collaboration: Working with adjacent industries to meet demands for miniaturisation, high-speed data, and energy efficiency as integration into semiconductor packaging accelerates.
  • ● Strengthening ties with research institutes: Driving innovation in materials science, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing through partnerships with Europe’s world-class academic and research institutions.

Despite recent headwinds, including geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions, the passive components market remains resilient, with a projected global market CAGR above 5%. Mr. Pottier believes the long-term outlook in Europe is positive, driven by demand in automotive, industrial automation, AI applications, and wellness technologies.

EPCIA Strategic Priorities

  • ● Advocacy and visibility: Ensuring passive components are recognised for their strategic value in Europe’s digital and green transitions.
  • ● Standardisation and interoperability: Collaborating with partners to streamline integration across the electronics ecosystem.
  • ● Talent and education: Supporting initiatives that attract and train the next generation of engineers and researchers.

“Europe’s strength lies in its ability to collaborate across borders and disciplines. As EPCIA President, I am committed to building bridges – between industries, institutions, and innovators – to ensure passive components continue to play a vital role in shaping the future of electronics.

I would like to sincerely thank Mr. Ralph Bronold for his exceptional leadership as EPCIA President from 2008 to 2025. Ralph’s dedication and vision have been key to shaping and growing the association. I’m also deeply grateful to Mr. Marcus Dietrich, EPCIA Secretary, for his steadfast support and thoughtful governance.

Finally, I’m delighted to welcome Mr. José Gato as Vice President of EPCIA, effective now, and I’m truly looking forward to working alongside him.”
