Modelithics and Johanson Technology to Develop New Microwave Ceramic Capacitor Models

Modelithics®, the leading independent provider of accurate RF/microwave models, and Johanson Technology, a leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance RF ceramic capacitor products expand their partnership to provide highly accurate and scalable simulation models to the RF design community.

Through the expanded collaboration efforts, Modelithics will be developing new Microwave Global Models™ for Johanson Technology’s new High-Q 0402, 0603, and 0805 C-Series multi-layer ceramic capacitors.

The Johanson High-Q C-series capacitors are High-Q MLCC, ultra-low loss ceramic dielectric capacitors for high-frequency applications.  The C-Series is made with Copper electrodes, instead of Palladium and Silver, making them less subject to price volatility of precious metals.  Therefore, prices for these low-loss, low-ESR capacitors will be more stable over time.  Reliability and lot-to-lot RF consistency were key design criteria in the development of this family of High-Q capacitors.

Modelithics Microwave Global Models are unique to Modelithics and are measurement-based, are highly scalable and provide broad-band parasitic modeling accuracy. Designers can specify a desired substrate and solder-pad dimensions and the model will then scale accordingly. Microwave Global Models also scale with respect to part values, making them ideal for tuning and optimization. Specifically, a single Microwave Global Model covers the full range of part values for a vendor part series with validation frequencies often extending into mm-waves.

Upon development, the models will be included in the Modelithics COMPLETE Library, which is an indispensable collection of simulation models for all types of passive and active RF and microwave devices engineered to enable designers to go from concept to product faster and easier. The Modelithics COMPLETE Library is available for Keysight Technologies’ PathWave Advanced Design System (ADS), Keysight Technologies’ PathWave RFSynthesis (Genesys), Cadence® AWR Design Environment®, and other simulators.
