Modelithics Expands COMPLETE+3D Library for Ansys HFSS

27.3.2026
Reading Time: 5 mins read
A A

Modelithics has announced a major update of the Modelithics COMPLETE+3D Library v26.0. for Ansys HFSS simulation software, which is now part of the Synopsys portfolio.

The latest Modelithics release introduces more than 60 new models, representing 2,600 additional components, and significantly broadens coverage of capacitors, inductors, resistors and non-linear devices for RF and microwave design.

Expanded model coverage for HFSS users

With this release, the COMPLETE+3D Library for HFSS now encompasses over 30,000 components through advanced equivalent‑circuit models, giving designers a broad selection of vendor‑specific parts for accurate circuit‑level simulation. In parallel, approximately 7,700 components are now represented by Modelithics 3D EM and 3D Brick EM models, enabling full‑wave electromagnetic analysis directly inside HFSS for critical passive components and selected active devices.

The library is compatible with HFSS 2026 R1 and maintains backward compatibility with older HFSS releases, supporting existing design flows and long‑term projects. Ansys HFSS, now under the Synopsys umbrella, continues to serve as a key platform for high‑frequency EM simulation in RF, microwave and high‑speed applications.

New HPC licensing boosts multi‑machine workflows

A key enhancement in this release is a new high performance computing (HPC) licensing option designed to improve scalability and throughput for simulation teams. The HPC license allows a single license seat to be used concurrently across multiple machines, so users can batch and distribute simulation workloads without purchasing additional seats for each compute node.

HPC licensing is supported for both floating and cloud‑based license configurations, making it suitable for on‑premises clusters as well as cloud‑hosted environments. This approach helps engineering teams shorten turnaround times for large parametric sweeps, design variants and multi‑physics studies based on HFSS models.

New 3D Brick EM and 3D EM models

The update adds new 3D Brick EM models for capacitors from Amotech, Kyocera‑AVX, Murata and Yageo, extending the library’s coverage of popular high‑frequency MLCC and RF capacitor series. A new 3D Brick EM model has also been introduced for the Macom MADP000907‑14020 diode, validated up to 110 GHz to support millimeter‑wave and broadband designs.

In addition, a new 3D EM model has been released for the Piconics MK Series inductor, which includes Modelithics advanced Part Value scalability to support multiple inductance values within a single model and is validated up to 67 GHz. These models are intended for full‑wave EM simulations in HFSS, capturing pad, package and layout‑dependent effects that are increasingly important at higher frequencies.

More Microwave Global Models and non‑linear diode support

The library update also delivers 43 new Microwave Global Models for leading vendors including Amotech, Coilcraft, Dalicap, International Manufacturing Services (IMS), Knowles, Kyocera‑AVX, Murata, Susumu, TDK and Vishay. These scalable models support key advanced features such as Part Value scaling, substrate scaling, pad scaling and orientation selection, and are validated up to 110 GHz for demanding RF and microwave applications.

Complementing the passive models, new non‑linear diode models are provided for Infineon, Macom, Microsemi, Skyworks and Toshiba, enabling more realistic simulation of detector, limiter, switch and mixer circuits in conjunction with HFSS‑driven layouts. The extended coverage helps designers maintain consistent modeling quality across both passive and active components in their signal chains.

Free 90‑day access via the MVP program

Through the Modelithics Vendor Partner (MVP) program, designers can obtain free 90‑day use of Modelithics models for selected MVP components from Amotech, Coilcraft, Dalicap, IMS, Knowles, Kyocera‑AVX, Macom and Vishay. The MVP initiative is intended to lower barriers to evaluation and promote accurate simulation of vendor‑specific parts in production designs.

Interested users can request free access and explore the full list of supported MVP components via the dedicated MVP portal on the Modelithics website. This complements existing trial and licensing options for the COMPLETE+3D Library across supported EDA platforms.

Access to release notes and trial requests

For detailed information on all new models, enhancements and supported components in this release, engineers can consult the current COMPLETE+3D Library release notes available from the Modelithics Literature section. The release notes provide comprehensive tables of added models, validation frequency ranges and associated vendor part families.

Designers interested in evaluating the COMPLETE+3D Library for Ansys HFSS can request a free trial license through the Modelithics HFSS MVP page, which also outlines available configurations and supported versions. Additional information on the COMPLETE+3D Library, including its 3D EM and 3D Brick EM content, is available on the main product overview page.
