Waldenburg (Germany), 6 March 2019 – Well known and renowned for its magnetics, Würth Elektronik eiSos takes the opportunity to present what else it has to offer at this year’s electronica China. At the stand E5.5314, the manufacturer will be showing oscillators, crystals, super capacitors, resistors, and various innovative electromechanical components. Würth Elektronik eiSos will also present one seminar and three workshops at electronica China (March 20-22, 2019, Shanghai New International Expo Centre).

What Track Width To Use When Routing PCB

Würth Elektronik eiSos will present a new product line of frequency products following the acquisition of IQD. The portfolio covers 32.768 kHz watch crystals, SMT crystals, ranging from 3.2768 MHz to 50 MHz, and also oscillators in the range 3.6863 MHz to 125 MHz in various sizes.

Supercapacitors and soft termination

Whether it is for energy storage or filtering applications, capacitors are widely used in the electronic world. Besides traditional electrolytic, MLCC, and safety capacitors, Würth Elektronik eiSos provides super capacitors whose capacitance reaches as high as 50 F, and MLCCs with soft termination which can absorb mechanical stress, and be more stable and robust. Aluminum polymer capacitors, with extremely low ESR and ESL, provide excellent EMI suppression behavior, and provide many benefits in comparison to traditional electrolytic capacitors.

Superior ability in power and linearity

In switching power, battery and motor control field, current detection is important to both feedback and protection. Resistors are able to provide a direct and low price current sense solution. The product line presented at Electronica China covers metal plate resistors, and highly cost-efficient thick film resistors. Metal plate resistors have superior abilities, temperature characteristics, linearity, accuracy and current-noise suppression level.

Reliable contact: REDCUBE

BildmaterialThe reliability of contact on the PCB is primordial in high current applications in order to prevent self-heating. Heat generation, resistance, component size and mechanical reliability are all aspects Würth Elektronik eiSos considered in developing the REDCUBE terminals with press-fit technology. ‘Made in Germany’, the REDCUBE terminals are milled from solid brass, which in effect offers a promise of quality, compared to punched sheet metal constructions. A high-performance, electrical, press-fit connection is made by plugging the pins of a REDCUBE PRESS-FIT terminal into the plated through-holes of a circuit board. This creates a gas-tight electrical connection. The distinctive feature of a press-fit connection, compared to soldering technology, is the creation of an electrical and stable mechanical connection between the component and the circuit board.

Another highlight from the portfolio of electromechanical components: SMT spacers for fast and easy processing and highest process reliability. Designed for automatic assembly, the spacers are packed in tape & reel and have a caption foil or pick-and-place cap to provide constant quality at the pick-and-place and soldering process. Two Types of mounting are available: board stacking and 90° assembling.

Transformer

BildmaterialFor Push-pull converter symmetrical isolation, Würth Elektronik eiSos will present reference designs for Texas Instruments SN6501 and SN6505B with supplementary insulation transformers. For the PoE application, there will be a demonstration of a low profile PoE planar transformer for 802.3bt PD 70W and common and differential mode suppression choke. Würth Elektronik eiSos will also promote flyback topology with reinforced insulation and grounded core for improved EMI performance, and reinforced insulation with up to 400W output with high efficiency of LLC topology. Because high safety measurements are required in a variety of applications, including industrial, medical equipment, and smart metering, tall EP packages are available. These low profile current sense transformers provide excellent noise performance, are built with high creepage and clearance, are created with a relatively small footprint, and offer up to 1500VAC isolation voltage.

Technical seminar

In the afternoon of March 20th, Würth Elektronik eiSos will hold a technical communication conference, covering power components simulation and loss evaluation, high frequency transformer application, and EMC solution analysis. (1pm-5pm, room E5-M30)

Along with the seminar, Würth Elektronik eiSos and its IC partners will jointly host three workshops in Hall E5, room M29. The schedule is as follows:

March 20, 1pm-5pm: USB Power Delivery type-C with STMicroelectronics.

March 21, 1pm-5pm: Digitally Enhanced Power Analog (DEPA) with Microchip.

March 22, 9am-1pm, Room E5-M29: Power Management Lab Kit with Texas Instruments.
