Hirose Electric Releases 0.3mm Pitch FPC Connector for Automotive Applications

Hirose Electric introduces its FH79 Series of 0.3mm Pitch FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) board to board connectors ideal for automotive applications.

Contributing to Miniaturization in Advanced Automotive Devices

As autonomous driving technology advances, the demand for supporting sensors, particularly LiDAR, continues to grow. LiDAR is increasingly vital for autonomous driving at Level 3 and above, driving the miniaturization of devices, especially with the development of compact, solid-state models.

In response to the trend of digitalized interiors, displays are increasingly being used for functions such as electronic mirrors, center clusters, and controls. This shift has raised demand for space-saving wiring solutions.

Hirose Electric’s FH79 series addresses these evolving needs. With a narrow pitch of 0.3mm, it achieves approximately 40% reduction in width compared to conventional 0.5mm pitch connectors, supporting miniaturization and space efficiency.

Additionally, the staggered 0.6mm mounting pitch and two-row contact design allow reliable component mounting even with the narrow pitch. The back flip design also provides high contact reliability, preventing actuator opening with upward FPC routing.

  • 125℃ heat resistance meets stringent testing requirements for various automotive applications.
  • Top & bottom contact design enhances board design flexibility and simplifies assembly.
  • Supports high-speed transmission eDP ver1.3 and MIPI D-PHY ver2.1 standards.
  • Back Flip Design: Prevents unexpected actuator opening.

Future Product Development

The “FH79” series, now in production, will expand to include the following pin count variations to accommodate various internal automotive connections.

  • Mass Production: 61pos.
  • Under Planning for Development: 11, 21, 31, 41 and 51pos.

The reliable design meets automotive quality standards and can also serve industrial applications in harsh environments.

Note: Not intended for powertrain applications.
