Modelithics®, the industry leader in providing cutting-edge custom modeling and measurement services for RF, microwave, semiconductor, and millimeter-wave electronic devices, is thrilled to announce that its esteemed co-founder and current President and CEO, Dr. Lawrence Dunleavy, has been bestowed with the prestigious honor of becoming an IEEE Fellow by the esteemed Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

An “IEEE Fellow” stands as the highest distinction within the IEEE, bestowed upon individuals who have made remarkable contributions to their respective fields, significantly advancing engineering, science, and technology. This recognition holds immense prestige within the technical community, with only a minuscule fraction of IEEE members achieving this esteemed status annually. Dr. Dunleavy’s citation reads, “for outstanding contributions to the commercial development of microwave device models and microwave education leadership.”

Modelithics Library Expands with 120 New Models

The first aspect of this citation highlights the remarkable success of Modelithics, founded in 2001 by Dr. Lawrence Dunleavy and Dr. Thomas Weller. Together, they established a company that has become a global leader in providing high-accuracy simulation models for a diverse range of devices and simulation platforms. Renowned worldwide for their expertise in microwave circuit design, characterization, modeling, and electromagnetics, the co-founders have played a pivotal role in shaping the industry.

Today, Modelithics stands as a prominent provider of standardized model libraries for commercial passive and active devices from over 75 esteemed vendors. These libraries seamlessly support all the leading microwave simulation platforms, catering to the diverse needs of engineers and researchers. Additionally, the company offers a comprehensive suite of on-demand measurement and modeling services, including S-parameters, GaN and 3D modeling, noise parameters, pulsed IV, high-power RF testing, and source/load-pull.

“This recognition is a well-deserved testament to Larry’s significant contributions to our microwave community. Through advancements in compact modeling, we are ensuring that future engineers are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the industry,” expressed Dr. Weller.

Co-Founder and IEEE Fellow, Dr. Dunleavy, highlighted two aspects of his fellowship citation. Firstly, he emphasized his role as a Professor of Electrical Engineering for over three decades, educating thousands of students in wireless and microwave circuits and systems. Notably, he is recognized as a co-founder of the Wireless and Microwave Information Systems (WAMI) Center at USF, along with Dr. Weller and others. WAMI stands out for its strong and innovative hands-on education program. Graduates from WAMI have achieved remarkable success in their industrial and, for some, academic careers.

Dr. Dunleavy expressed his gratitude for his early career goals, which involved bridging the gap between academia and industry. He credited his exceptional colleagues at USF, advisors, and the remarkable team at Modelithics for their invaluable support. He expressed deep appreciation for the successful collaborations he has enjoyed over the years with Tom Weller. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to his wife, Holly Dunleavy, the CFO of Modelithics, for her unwavering support and her exceptional business partnership in the company’s long-term success.
