MALVERN, Pa. — Nov. 20, 2018 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that the company’s ruggedized 225 EDLC-R ENYCAPTM series of electrical double-layer energy storage capacitors has received a 2018 AspenCore World Electronics Achievement Award. For energy harvesting and power backup applications in harsh, high humidity environments, the devices are the industry’s first to offer useful life of 2000 hours at +85 °C and meet the highest class of moisture resistance: the biased 85 / 85 1000-hour test.
The long useful life of 225 EDLC-R ENYCAPTM series capacitors is double that of standard EDLCs, while their high moisture resistance allows them to be used in applications where high humidity would compromise standard devices. This allows for maintenance-free operation to lower costs, while providing engineers with greater design flexibility in a wide range of industrial, renewable energy, and automotive applications.
Available in eight small case sizes ranging from 16 mm by 20 mm to 18 mm by 40 mm, 225 EDLC-R ENYCAPTM capacitors offer high power density to 4.1 Wh/kg, capacitance values from 20 F to 60 F, and a maximum rated voltage of 2.7 V. The RoHS-compliant devices feature rapid charge and discharge performance and are available in through-hole versions.
Award winners were recognized at a ceremony held during the Global CEO Summit in Shenzhen, China. Gerald Tatschl, Senior Manager, Product Marketing, Aluminum, was on hand to accept the award on Vishay’s behalf.
