SCHURTER Buys Biaodi to Boost High-Voltage Protection Portfolio

14.5.2026
Reading Time: 3 mins read
A A

SCHURTER has acquired a majority stake in Biaodi, a China-based developer of high-voltage circuit protection solutions, significantly expanding its capabilities in fast-growing e-mobility and new energy markets.

This strategic move enhances SCHURTER’s offering in applications such as electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, energy storage systems, and data centers.

Strategic Rationale and Market Focus

The acquisition supports SCHURTER’s strategy to deepen its presence in high-growth segments including electric mobility, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure. These markets demand reliable high-voltage protection for increasingly powerful and compact systems, making Biaodi’s technology a strong complement to SCHURTER’s existing circuit protection portfolio.

Biaodi is recognized for its expertise in high-voltage circuit protection components tailored to EV powertrains, charging stations, energy storage systems, and related power electronics. By integrating this know-how, SCHURTER can offer customers a broader, more application-specific range of solutions from a single source.

Expanded High-Voltage Product Offering

Biaodi’s products significantly extend SCHURTER’s existing high-voltage fuse and circuit protection families. The combined portfolio now spans solutions for DC and AC high-voltage environments, addressing both onboard and infrastructure-side protection needs.

Key product categories added through Biaodi include:

  • Fuses for electric vehicle onboard applications, designed for demanding traction and auxiliary power environments.
  • Pyrotechnic fuses engineered for rapid and safe disconnection of high-voltage battery systems in safety-critical situations.
  • AC fuses for charging stations, energy storage systems, wind power, data centers, and other high-current installations.

These additions align with SCHURTER’s established high-voltage fuse families, which offer wide voltage and current ranges, high breaking capacity, and robust mechanical design for harsh operating conditions. Customers benefit from a more complete and scalable protection concept from low to very high power levels across DC and AC systems.

Benefits for Customers and Global Footprint

With Biaodi joining the SCHURTER Group, customers gain access to locally developed high-voltage solutions in China combined with SCHURTER’s global engineering, quality, and logistics network. This supports international OEMs and system integrators who require consistent high-voltage protection solutions across multiple regions and manufacturing sites.

The integration is expected to accelerate product development for next-generation e-mobility, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure projects. Together, SCHURTER and Biaodi can respond more quickly to evolving standards, higher power densities, and increasing safety requirements in high-voltage applications.
