VPG Demonstrates Precision Resistor in Cryogenic Conditions

This VPG video demonstrates the temperature response of VPG Foil Resistors’ VSMP0805 precision surface-mount resistor from VPG Foil Resistors when cycled from +25°C down to –200°C and back to room temperature.

Using live resistance monitoring, the resistor is submerged in liquid nitrogen and then allowed to return to room temperature.

The results show that the device exhibits excellent TCR performance only 5 ppm ⁰C, with a stable and repeatable resistance profile across the full cryogenic cycle.

Importantly, the resistor returns to its initial value with no observed discontinuities. This behavior reflects the robust thermal and mechanical properties of Bulk Metal® Foil technology, making these resistors suitable for applications involving extreme thermal cycling or cryogenic environments.
