Stackpole Releases High Temperature High Stability Thin Film Chip Resistors

26.2.2025
Reading Time: 2 mins read
A A

Stackpole recently released RNCE series of thin film resistors with capability to withstand higher temperatures, high-moisture and high-sulfur environments, with exceptionally low changes in resistance over their functional lifetime.

As thin film chip resistors have become more accessible and affordable, their adoption across diverse applications has surged. However, when demanding stability at elevated temperatures in harsh conditions over extended periods, the performance of many nichrome thin film resistors falls short.

Stackpole recently introduced its RNCE series of thin film resistors, engineered to withstand higher temperatures, high moisture, and high sulfur environments. Notably, the RNCE series exhibits exceptionally low resistance changes throughout its functional lifespan.

The proprietary alloy employed in the RNCE series enhances moisture resistance and long-term stability. The RNCE structure and materials further contribute to the series’ ability to withstand sulfur and temperature extremes. Stackpole’s RNCE offers operational capabilities at temperatures up to 175°C and full power operation at 85°C, enabling its use in a broader spectrum of precision applications where standard thin film resistors are unsuitable.

The RNCE series is available in sizes ranging from 0402 to 1206, with tolerances as low as 0.05% and TCRs of 25 and 50 ppm. The remarkable stability of the RNCE is evident in low resistance shifts of less than 0.1% for industry-standard tests such as load life, temperature cycling, biased humidity, and short-time overload.

Features:

  • Excellent long-term stability
  • Operating temperature up to 175°C
  • Advanced sulfur resistance verified according to ASTM B 809
  • RoHS compliant, REACH compliant, lead free, and halogen free
  • AEC-Q200 compliant
